Kabarole District Farmers Association (KDFA)
Partnering for resilient farmers and sustainable rural livelihoods
Kabarole District Farmers Association (KDFA) is a farmer led, non profit membership organisation working to strengthen smallholder farmers and rural communities in western Uganda. Established in 1992 and formally registered in 1998, KDFA has over 30 years of experience designing and implementing inclusive, community-driven agricultural and livelihoods programmes.
We work at grassroots level to improve food security, increase incomes, promote climate-smart agriculture, and enable farmers to participate meaningfully in markets and policy processes. KDFA combines local knowledge with strong partnerships to deliver practical, scalable and sustainable impact.
Our Purpose and Approach
KDFA exists to ensure that smallholder farmers, particularly women and youth, are economically empowered, socially organised, and resilient to climate and market shocks.
Our approach is:
Farmer centred: Farmers are organised, trained, and supported to lead their own development
Market oriented: Farming is promoted as a business, not subsistence
Climate responsive: Environmental sustainability is embedded in all programmes
Partnership driven: We work with government, research institutions, private sector and development partners
