KDFA – DANIDA Agricultural Advisory and Technology Demonstration Project (A-SPS I & II), 2000–2009, Kabarole District

This was one of KDFA’s earliest and most foundational projects, implemented with funding from DANIDA under the Agricultural Sector Programme Support (A-SPS I and II).

The project aimed to strengthen agricultural advisory services and promote adoption of improved farming technologies among smallholder farmers.

What We Did

KDFA provided agricultural advisory services supported by trained staff, transport facilities, and demonstration infrastructure. Technology demonstration sites were established to showcase improved crop varieties, livestock practices, soil management, and post-harvest handling techniques.

Key Results and Impact

  • Improved access to extension and advisory services for rural farmers

  • Increased adoption of improved and climate-smart farming practices

  • Strengthened farmer knowledge in productivity, quality, and sustainability

  • Built KDFA’s long-term institutional capacity to deliver farmer-focused programmes

This project laid the foundation for KDFA’s reputation as a trusted agricultural service provider in the Rwenzori region.
