Organisation Overview

Kabarole District Farmers Association (KDFA) is a farmer led, non profit membership organisation established in 1992 and registered in 1998 in Uganda. KDFA works to improve the economic and social livelihoods of smallholder farmers through sustainable agriculture, agribusiness development, financial inclusion, and climate-smart interventions.

KDFA is affiliated to the Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) and operates across all sub counties of Kabarole and Bunyangabu Districts in western Uganda.

KDFA has over 30 years of experience implementing donor-funded and multi-stakeholder projects in partnership with development agencies, government institutions, and civil society organisations.

  • Agricultural production and productivity improvement

  • Climate resilience and environmental conservation

  • Farmer enterprise development and market access

  • Youth and women economic empowerment

  • Governance, accountability, and farmer representation

  • Operational area: 27 sub counties in Kabarole and Bunyangabu Districts

  • Direct beneficiaries: 1,500+ organised smallholder farmers

  • Strong participation of women and youth through group based membership

  • Governed by a 9-member District Executive Board elected every four years

  • Annual General Assembly provides oversight and strategic direction

  • Managed by a professional team of agricultural advisors, enterprise development advisors, VSLA officers, community-based trainers, and administrative staff

KDFA upholds strong standards of transparency, integrity, stewardship and accountability.

KDFA has partnered with organisations including DANIDA, CARE International, FARM Africa, NAADS, aBi-Trust, Enabel, UNFFE, FINCA, and local government authorities in the Tooro Kingdom and Rwenzori Region.
