KDFA has a strong and tested track record in VSLA implementation and rural finance.

Under SAVE UP, SUSTAIN I, and Banking on Change (BoC) programmes, KDFA has supported:

  • 641 VSLA groups

  • Over 15,000 members and youth clients

  • Savings exceeding UGX 1.54 billion

  • Share-outs of over UGX 1.52 billion, generating significant profits

  • 2,700+ members trained in income-generating activities and business management


Youth Focus: Banking on Change II (BoC II)


Through partnership with CARE International in Uganda, KDFA implemented BoC II to promote financial literacy, linkage banking, and entrepreneurship among youth.

  • Implemented in 11 sub-counties of Kabarole District

  • 268 youth-led VSLA groups formed and strengthened

  • 6,700 members, with 77% aged 14–24 years

  • Financial literacy, employability skills, enterprise development, and linkage banking delivered

This programme significantly improved youth saving culture, access to finance, and economic opportunities.
